Warming Up a Honda CBR250RR

Generally the CBR250RR will take about 10 minutes to reach normal temperature.

While pressing the starter button, it may help to apply a small amount of throttle to get fuel flowing to the cylinders. However be careful not to use throttle excessively before engine fires completely, because doing so may flood the engine. The sound you should here is similar to the sound of a car starting, a rapid succession of noises.

If the repeating noise is slow and or sounds weak, you may have electrical or battery issues. If you suspect that the battery may be low, you may never be able to start the bike in spite of the engine turning over due to not enough power to spark. If that is the case either recharge the battery, use a different battery or jump start the bike from a car or other bike.

Start by attempting to start the bike without any choke or throttle. The choke should only be used if the bike will not turn over after a few attempts without. If you do have to use the choke, pull it out to maximum, start bike and hold choke at maximum for 5-10 seconds. Immediately start decreasing choke, until it is completely suppressed. The bike should now maintain revolutions on its own, at around 1,500 RPM.

Once the bike is turning over on its own, which should occur immediately, apply small amounts of throttle, on and off, revving to less than 6,000 RPM. At this stage, the noise from your exhaust may be different from the sound it makes when warm, due to the minor exodus of carbon/oil that can be expecting when warming up. Occasionally applying throttle when the engine is cold will cause the bike to stall. If this happens, restart immediately and continue applying small amounts of throttle.

After 3-5 minutes, the engine components should have reached a sufficient temperature and idle that it won't stall when riding.

It is important to note that lengthy idling while engine is warming is not beneficial to the engine, the best way to bring it up to operating temperature is to start riding gently. After 5-10 minutes of riding the engine should be sufficiently warm to reach higher revs.
